Twice in as many days I have received the advice that diet juices can be doing me more harm than good and that they are unlikely to help with my weight loss. Diet juice is off the menu for me but I still need to get my 8 glass of fluid

In the UK, you should drink about 1.2 litres (six to eight glasses) of fluid every day to prevent dehydration http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Dehydration/Pages/Introduction.aspx

I need to find alternatives to drink when both at home and out and about so here’s my top12 sydration tips.

  • Water
  • Water with diluting squash (low/reduces sugar but without sorbitol)
  • Fruit juice – no more than 1 small glass per day
  • Water with fruit juice
  • Water flavoured with fruit/veg i.e. lemon, cucumber or mint
  • Vegetable juice
  • Tea (normal) – but no more than 3 cups per day
  • Fruit / herb Tea
  • Skimmed milk
  • Water based soup
  • Homemade ice lollies
  • And for added fluids eat plenty of water based fruit and veg
